Verra Approves First Credits Under CCS Methodology for BKV
BKV has become the first company to receive carbon credit certification from Verra for CO₂ permanently sequestered through its CCUS operations. The certification relates to BKV’s Barnett Zero Project in Bridgeport, Texas - the first project approved for carbon credits under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard carbon capture and storage methodology. The project demonstrates that CO₂ permanently sequestered from natural gas processing can be credibly measured, independently certified and recognized through a robust market framework.
This achievement also marks an important step forward for our Carbon Sequestered Gas (CSG) business, allowing us to monetize certified carbon credits and begin delivering our third-party-verified, carbon-neutral natural gas product under previously announced agreements with Kiewit and Gunvor. Together, these developments support our efforts to advance practical carbon management solutions and expand access to lower-carbon energy.
