Our Short-Term Incentive Program (STIP) is strong, setting performance targets and rewarding those who reach them within a specified period with bonuses, recognition and other incentives. We extend these objectives beyond executive leadership to ensure the entire company is in alignment with our priorities.

To balance our ambitions for innovation, we've integrated a robust enterprise risk management system into our ESG program. The system includes defining our risk appetite, establishing responsibilities, implementing a management methodology and applying technical solutions to make the choices best for us. It allows us to navigate risks and seize opportunities.

Our online fundamental tools enable us to innovate, improve and grow, but also require a strong security solution to protect us from threats. To address this, we continuously develop processes and systems to manage emerging data types. In 2023, we appointed a new Chief Information Officer dedicated to enhancing the ownership, protection and resilience of our information and cybersecurity solutions.

Rita Valois is candid when she explains what made her decide to accept the role of Chief Information Officer at BKV.
“It wasn’t oil and gas that drew me to this company,” said Rita, who has spent 40 years managing everything from digital transformation to business processes. “It was the vision that Chris Kalnin has for this business. It’s founded on using data and technology to drive innovation, operational efficiency and financial performance in such a way that we seek to distinguish ourselves from others in the industry.”
She notes that the company’s progress in carbon capture and sequestration struck a particularly resonant chord. “I’m a mother and a step-grandma, so I am inspired by playing a part in enabling the delivery of lower-emissions energy solution with the right teams and capabilities. I love to build things. And this company is all about building things.”
When it comes to building a highly effective business, data is the glue that binds various functional teams and their business processes together. That includes the tools and platforms for sharing information, which in turn provides the insight to make the right decisions and execute them in a timely way.
As Rita sees it, her initial building project is a bridge connecting operational technology and information technology. She wants to ensure that tools measuring production in the field—metrics like volume, temperature and pressure—consistently provide relevant, insightful and secure data for analysis to enhance operational efficiency and performance.
For example, in the course of BKV’s upstream acquisitions, systems for presenting data weren’t consistent across all legacy wells. To achieve consistency, Rita’s Technology and Data teams are working side-by-side with their colleagues in Operations to jointly redesign and redeploy this Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. It’s a big job, but it’s also an opportunity to innovate with new tools and metrics.
Another bridge Rita looks forward to building is between the Operational Technology team, which is almost entirely women, and the IT team, which is predominantly men. She emphasizes the importance of fostering diversity and leadership opportunities across teams. “Being able to develop leadership
