Challenge

Children International, a nonprofit that provides assistance to impoverished children, needed an updated account management site for its child sponsors. Called “My Account,” the site was in need of a modernized look and design to improve the experience of its users, encouraging them to return frequently and continue sponsorship.

Strategy

BKV began with in-depth analysis of sponsor demographics and competitor research. Collaborating with CI, we designed a more robust My Account leveraging user experience best practices.

The new site features responsive content and design that adjusted to the user’s browsing device. Users’ most-used pages and functions were made easier to access. A message center was created and added to the front page to prominently display sponsor appeals. Children and the child-sponsor relationship were made the focus of the site by making the adding names and photos of children throughout the site. Letter writing tools and content galleries were completely revamped with a new look and layout for better ease of use and functionality. Social media capabilities were integrated so sharing photos, letters and more was just a click away.

Result

CI’s revolutionized My Account site saw growth in traffic and use across the board. Within seven months of the update, the site’s main page experienced a 50% lift in traffic. The percentage of mobile traffic grew 67%. Engagement dramatically increased; the number of online letters written doubled and monthly visits to the gallery page more than tripled.
