ATLANTA, Ga. (November 6, 2008) — A School Bell Rings, a non-profit organization committed to helping children throughout the world by improving their access to education and educational facilities, raised over $27,000 at its 2nd annual event on Saturday, September 27 at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North Hotel. This year's event, titled "A Passage to India," will donate all proceeds to benefit the children of Gujarat, India, where the charity will build a new school in Spring, 2009.
"After my wife, Dayna, and I decided to start the charity two years ago, we were honored to see great support from the Atlanta community," said Jamie Turner, Executive Director of A School Bell Rings and CEO of The 60 Second Marketer. "BKV and its employees have played an important role in helping our organization build better lives for dozens of children around the globe by providing an education they desperately need".
In 2007, almost 200 people attended "A Night in Tanzania" helping A School Bell Rings raise over $25,000.00 to build two schoolrooms at the Tioma Primary School in Karatu, Tanzania. With the proceeds from this year's live and silent auction event, A School Bell Rings will build an entire new school for the children in Gujarat, India. BKV has helped sponsor the past years' events, with several BKV employees attending and donating to the cause.
"There are many ways our employees help individually, whether it's donating $25 to buy five textbooks for the children in India and Africa, or $400 to build a playground at one of the schools," said Virginia Doty, Executive Vice President, BKV. "We are pleased to support such an important cause".
