Get to Know…Brinson Thomas

Get to know another "new" fresh face...

Mentor: Kim Honore
Brief Bio: I’ve been at BKV for almost three years now, working in the Media department on a slew of accounts, including, but not limited to, AT&T, ARS/Rescue Rooter, FEIN, Spanx, Dell SecureWorks and DS Waters. I LOVE that BKV has also given me a chance to continue learning via my project management work with the Emerging Media Team.  And since I am supposed to tell you something about myself that’s not work-related, I’ll borrow a Will Ferrell quote from the cinematic masterpiece, Elf, to sum up how I generally feel about life - “I just like to smile, smiling's my favorite!”

Why Brinson?  Brinson is like the Dalai Lama of BKV – he is so calm, cool and collected and I have never seen him have a freak-out moment!  He just keeps his cool, day in and day out, and volunteers for any task at hand – even the hard ones that nobody else wants to work on.  Let me put it this way – if you worked in the Pentagon and you had to choose one person to be in charge of pushing the “nuke them” button, you’d want it to be Brinson!  He’s inquisitive, he’s bright, he always has a smile on his face - I think we have a future CEO on our hands!

Position: Digital Media Assistant

How long have you been at BKV and how did you get started? I have been at BKV since late May and got hired full time in August.  I came out of college knowing that I wanted to go into digital marketing and Amanda Papini had come and spoken in one of my career development classes.  This led me to BKV and the rest is history!

What football stands will we find you in this season? I will be in the northwest corner of Bobby Dodd Stadium cheering on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.  Go Jackets!!!!

Being fresh out of college, what has been the hardest adjustment when transferring in to the real world?  Free time!!  I had so much free time in college that I got bored with nothing to do sometimes.  Now I feel like my only free time is the weekend and I can’t buy time to sit around and do nothing!  What’s up with that?!  I’m just saying I would totally be down to work 12 hour work days if I could have 4 day work weeks…seriously.

What has BKV taught you? What has BKV not taught me?  Seriously I have learned so much in the 4 months that I have been here.  I’m copying Erin here but it really does seem like you learn more in a few months at your first job then you do in your four years of college.   Not saying I got a bad education (it was great!) but it definitely doesn’t give you much of a taste of the real world.

When you interviewed at BKV, what about the environment stood out to you most? This is too easy.  It had to be the creepy fortune teller lady in Kim’s office (she’s still there if you want to go check her out).  I had a hard time not laughing when I first walked in for my interview.

What clients do you work on? I currently work on ARS and Spanx the majority of the time.  Occasionally I will help out a little with DS Waters.

If we were to run in to you at a concert…which one would it be? Which one would it not be?  Concerts are awesome!  I will go to just about any concert.  But some of the best/favorite concerts I’ve been too are Jimmy Buffet, DMB, John Butler Trio, and Eric Church.

Where do you call home? I call good ole Augusta Georgia home.  I was born and raised in Augusta and can’t see myself ever calling anywhere else home (at least not for a while).  People know Augusta for the Masters golf tournament but it is so much more than that.  I’m not saying a trip to Augusta would be amazing or anything but I cannot think of a better place to grow up.

Current top five playlist: Wow this is tough.  I honestly like all types of music and what I’m listening to usually has to do with what mood I’m in but here goes my best guess:
       1. “Carolina” by Eric Church – reminds me of good times in North Carolina.
       2. “Everyday/#36” by DMB – all time favorite of his
       3. When you're in the mood for some blue grass, Old Crow Medicine Show
       4. Insert random rap song when you’re in the mood to party
       5. Jimmy Buffet at the beach – there’s nothing better
